JOIN US FROM ANYWHERE YOU ARE COMFORTABLE
We at The Children’s Workshop believe that learning should be fun. Our classes are led by teachers who understand how to create and carry out learning activities that are playful and educational. It is our desire to be able to bring that same approach to families in their own homes. Just as the The Children’s Workshop's classroom curriculum is led by highly qualified educators and guided by the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards, so is TCW Virtual Preschool.
We provide fun activities that focus on strengthening a variety of skills, including but not limited to literacy, motor development, problem solving, self-awareness, and self-regulation. Each of our weekly overviews will provide you with a materials list, an explanation of how to conduct the activities, what skills are being learned in the process of participating in the activity, and suggestions for how to extend the activity. We also provide the opportunity to communicate directly with the educators should you have questions.

TCW Virtual Preschool
Our Curriculum is based on
Rhode Island's Early Learning & Development Standards:
PHYSICAL & MOTOR HEALTH DEVELOPMENT
The focus of physical and motor health development is simplified to meet the best practices in health and safety, along with the development of large and small muscular movements. Through brain breaks and movement songs, our students progress and strengthen their physical and health development to carry them through life.
SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
As early as age two, children are developing their identity and their voice which allows them to feel that they are heard as a person. We want to help children understand their thoughts and feelings in a healthy way. Through the use of Conscious Discipline, our students learn self-control, self-regulation, and other social skills to help them in their day-to-day life.
LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT
Language is expressed in many different ways. It is a part of the way we understand each other, express ourselves, and communicate both verbally and through body language. Through small group activities, singing, read-alouds, and home projects; students learn, explore and develop their language skills and then put those skills to practice.
LITERACY
In our program, children learn how to communicate their thoughts and ideas through discussion, reading and writing. Basic knowledge of letters and letter sounds, being able to identify and spell one’s name, participating in read-alouds, and understanding that writing expresses one’s ideas are some of the things students learn - preparing them for Kindergarten.
COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT
Infants and young children rely on their senses and relationships with others. Exploring objects and materials in different ways and interacting with adults both contribute to a child’s cognitive development. Through everyday experiences and interactions, our students have opportunities to learn how to solve problems, differentiate between familiar and unfamiliar people, attend to things they find interesting (even when distractions are present) and understand how their actions affect others.
MATHEMATICS
Math can be challenging for children in the early childhood years. Our program offers children activities that can be done at home, with the option of live meetings alongside an enriching curriculum. Students do activities such as exploring shapes, counting objects, and practicing measuring... all while having fun!
SCIENCE
Children love to explore the world around them, and we want to encourage this! In our preschool, students will explore the living and non-living world around them and expand their minds as scientists!
SOCIAL STUDIES
Every child is a member of an enriching and diverse background. Our program supports students with their understanding of the world around them. Our students understand and explore all aspects of their community, while learning how they each connect to each other.
CREATIVE ARTS
Each child has their own sense of the world. Our virtual preschool offers children the opportunity to express their individual creativity, while supporting their understanding of the creative arts. Students participate in activities that allow them to explore their creative minds and create what they see in the world.
Our TCW virtual learning community was created for parents who might not be comfortable with an in-person learning environment during the unprecedented time of the COVID-19 pandemic, who might not be able to commit to a full-time learning experience, or are looking for a more affordable way to help prepare their child for the next step in life - Kindergarten!
